Expat Lawyer in Chiang Mai

To get legally married in Thailand, you must follow these steps :

1. Meet the legal requirements. Both you and your fiancé(e) must be at least 17 years old, of sound mind, and not closely related by blood. You must also be either Thai citizens or residents of Thailand.
2. Obtain the necessary documents. These documents include:

Your passports

Your birth certificates

Proof of residency in Thailand (if applicable)

A Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (CNI). You can obtain this from your home country’s embassy or consulate in Thailand.

3. Submit your marriage registration application. You can do this at any district office or Thai embassy or consulate.

4. Pay the registration fee. The fee is currently 1,000 Thai baht. Attend a marriage ceremony. This is not required by law, but it is a common practice. You can have a religious or civil ceremony, or both.

6. Sign the marriage certificate. Once you and your fiancé(e) have signed the certificate, your marriage will be officially registered.
